We recently received an inspirational email from an eighth grade student in Washington State. In her email, Aashan Sheth speaks about a competition she joined where she exhibited the life and work of Professor Wangari Maathai and emerged first place. Here is a copy of the email below and a photo of her display at the competition.

"My name is Aashna Sheth and I am an 8th grader studying in Washington State. My group and I took part in the National History Day (NHD) project competition this year, for which the theme was ‘Leadership and Legacy.’ We chose to create a large trifold board on an influential leader, and decided to do Dr. Wangari Muta Maathai. Our group has already competed in the regional and state competitions of NHD, and is very excited to be going to the national competition held in Washington DC.

Update: My group and I competed in the Washington State 'Regional', then 'State' contests and are very pleased to inform you that we secured 1st place in both competitions. We are now going to the global competition held in Washington DC, around June 15th."
