GBM Joins U.S. State Department Meeting on Global Partnerships and New Commitments
Today, Wanjira Mathai, Vice Chair of the Green Belt Movement and Project Leader of the Wangari Maathai Institute, joined outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at a meeting at the State Department to discuss the global impact of public-private partnerships. One initiative discussed is an effort to advance women's clean energy entrepreneurship, a project that the Green Belt Movement has been engaged with for many years.
Strengthening Public Participation in Environment Management Training Workshop in Rabat, Morocco, 7-9th January, 2013
The workshop themed ‘Building Connections for Africa and the Middle East’ sought to share the key features and foundations of USEPA’s Public Participation guide, share best practices, challenges and strategies in engaging the public, whilst also providing the opportunity to participants to discuss different tools and techniques used throughout the region.
The Green Belt Movement Leads Field Excursion to the Aberdares for MyCOE/SERVIR East Africa Workshop Participants
On Saturday, December 15th the Green Belt Movement (GBM) trained 17 teams of university fellows and mentors totaling 45 participants from nine African countries in best practices for participatory conservation work with a local community and the application of mapping and GPS methods to plan, monitor and report progress of reforestation sites.
