Planting seeds of hope

May 26, 2016

One year ago, a cowardly terrorist attack at Garissa University College robbed this nation of 148 souls. On May 26, 2016, honoring the victims and survivors, students from the University and representatives from the Kenya Defence Forces joined us in planting 148 trees in what will be designated as a peace park at the Wangari Maathai Institute of Peace and Environmental Studies.

Speaking at the event, Aisha Karanja, the Green Belt Movement Executive Director, urged all those in attendance to “take the front-line and be peace ambassadors because without peace, the environment suffers and as a result, so does humanity.”

By planting trees, we spread the message of peace and healing.

We are grateful to Green Cross Sweden for their partnership in this.
