February 27, 2018
The Green Belt Movement applauds the appointment of our Chair Marion Kamau, by the Ministry of Environment & Forestry CS Keriako Tobiko, to head the newly-formed Task Force to inquire into forest resources management and logging activities in Kenya.
Speaking today when he announced the formation of the task force, CS Tobiko said the government is keen to bring to an end the wanton destruction of forests resources which put the nation’s economic transformation agenda at risk.
“The appointment of this Rapid Results Taskforce provides a much-needed foundation for a multi-sectoral action plan and I look forward to receiving their report and recommendations at the earliest opportunity,” he added.
